2006 Bernardus Chardonnay Monterey County

Drank this wine awhile back with my best friend whom only drinks white wine. One of the best chardonnays I have ever drank. I'm not a huge California chardonnay fan, but this is top notch at a decent price compared to my preferred Burgundies. Very complex, not over oaked, and had good acidity. We drank three bottles that night and this was the first of those bottles,....highly impressed.

2006 Bernardus, Chardonnay, Monterey County
Color: Between straw color and golden-yellow.
Nose: Lemon-Lime, grassy-straw, steel and wet stone aromas. Simple aromatics but easy to smell them.
Taste: Smooth flavors of mild vanilla (oak), sugar cane, but mainly tasting of grassy+lemon/lime flavors. Parmesan cheese aftertaste long after drinking.
Acidity: Medium
Density: Above-medium.
Finish: Long
Alcohol: 14.1%
Notes: Very cohesive, smooth wine that is very well put together. Not alcoholic at all. Excellent. Lacks more complexity, and bigger depth of flavor, but I won't complain.
Rating: 91+ (WN-91, WS-90) $22.99
