Today's Wine: 2006 Acacia Pinot Noir

2006 Acacia, Pinot Noir, Napa Valley/Carneros
Color: Transparent ruby red.
Nose: Rose petal and strawberry right up front. Good nose and fragrant. Creamy and milky. Flat cola aromas. A hint of green on the back end.
Taste: Cranberry, sour cherry, and a hint of chocolate milk. Good fruit up front and okay midpalate. Menthol-like, pine needle quality to the finish that is intriguing and unique. Mineral
like qualities to the finish as well.
Acidity: Good high acidity.
Density: Light to medium body.
Finish: Medium 25-35 seconds.
Alcohol: 14.4%
Notes: Second night tasting this wine. Tasted much better the first day when it had good body and vibrant fruit with silky tannins. Will have to rate wine from first day b/c of a cold that
has my taste buds altered. Good, decent wine that is well made from a respected producer. Not top notch Pinot, but respected and priced somewhat accordingly. A little higher priced than
I would have paid for it. A bigger style pinot than most producers and drank from the start much like a heavy cabernet; not entirely true to the varietal.
Rating: 87 $23.99
